Help with Menopause

The next stage in a woman’s life after having children is the menopause, this can be a worrying time, your body is changing and you can not understand what to do to overcome the symptoms. So if you are looking for some help with menopause then look no further as we have had a chance to sit down with Sheri Goddard and have a chat with her about her services and web site.

WHD  What encouraged you to set up your web site, The Menopause Coach?

SG  When I was in perimenopause,  I was convinced I was too young to be going through that.  I was forty-two years old.  My Doctor handed me a prescription for traditional hormone replacement therapy (hrt) but it scared me so I did my own research.
I created this blog to help women see they have many choices before resorting to traditional hormone replacement therapy, which has been proven to have serious side effects.   There is no shortage of information out there, and a lot of it is not true.  I think we all have to do our own research and my blog is a place to come for women to find truth, to educate, empower and provide support.  We have to be aware of the choices available before we can make intelligent decisions for ourselves.   This is all a work in progress, so be sure to check back every once in a while to see what is new.   I am going to have interviews with a variety of health and wellness professionals so show the many different options available.

WHD  If someone wants help with menopause, what help can they find on your site?

SG  They will find a place to sign up for a healthy tip each day to remind them of little baby steps they can take.  They will find a place to sign up to download a free E book about the 7 Menopause Myths.  Menopause can be a scary thing unless you do research and know what to expect.

There are sections about different transitions we go through during this time and information about each one.  These include:  hormonal transitions self image, energy, emotional, sexual, and personal growth transitions.  These go into more detail in my Ebook, The Beginners Guide to Menopause which includes symptoms, myths, links to sites with information, quotes from doctors, etc.  It has tips and suggestions for each of the symptoms.

You will also find dealing with a variety of symptoms, some of my favorite books from Amazon having to do with menopause or health.  There is also a doctor resource guide on my site which helps you, whatever state you live in find a doctor who knows and works with bioidentical hormone therapy.
There are some videos, some serious and some funny.
Under Sheri Recommends, there will be a variety of products that are helpful to you, some that I have used.

WHD  Are there are tips or help that you can give for someone suffering with menopause?

SG  I would read and become familiar with the symptoms of menopause.
I would stretch every morning and drink more water daily.
Then I would become aware of my food choices.
I would try cutting out or at least cutting down on caffeine, spicy foods and alcohol.  Those things exacerbate hot flashes.
I would get onto an exercise program, even if I walking only 10 or 15 minutes a day.  Try to do something aerobic 3 days and some weights about 3 times a week, even if you start with 2.5 lbs.  Being consistent is most important.
I would try going to a Nutritionist for guidance before using hormone replacement.
I would also try Acupuncture, or Herbal remedies before hormones.
I would only use bioidenticals instead of the traditional hormone replacement therapy if I did any.
If you need help finding any resources, please contact me and I will help you find someone in your area, if possible.

WHD  I see that your site does not just provide help with menopause but that you also offer coaching, can you tell us a bit about that?

SG  Coaching is a professional service providing clients with feedback, insights, and guidance from an outside vantage point   It is also an on-going collaborative partnership built on trust, support and taking action.  Based on the premise that everyone is whole, creative and resourceful, the client has the answers within and the coach can guide them to discover those answers always doing more than they would on their own.  A few of the benefits of having a coach are listed below:

• Taking themselves more seriously
• Creating momentum and consistency
• Taking more effective and focused actions
• Becoming more balanced and fulfilled
• Able to make permanent changes

People hire a coach when they are making a career transition, starting a new business, feeling dissatisfied, re-evaluating life choices, or simply looking for personal and professional breakthroughs.  Coaching is not counseling, consulting nor is it therapy.

WHD  I see you also offer reiki, how can you do reiki long distance?

SG  Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique which promotes relaxation and healing.  Reiki energy is a universal, infinite source of energy which sustains the world.  Reiki is a completely natural healing energy, and the Reiki method of use heals and balances on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  Reiki is being offered in some hospitals around the country now.

Since Reiki is energy, it does not have the limitations of physical being and can also be sent to a client long-distance.   In fact, some of the medical research being done with Reiki precisely involves long-distance Reiki.

Distant healing can be done in different ways.  The practitioner can use a proxy, visualization or a projection of Reiki energy (beaming) or a combination of these methods.

Because Reiki energy is intelligent, when called upon by a Reiki practitioner, it goes to the source of any problem or imbalance, at whatever level that problem or imbalance exists, and we as practitioners do not try to direct the energy, it knows where to go.  It is the Universal Intelligence of Reiki energy which directs the flow.  It is the intent to heal which automatically triggers the flow of Reiki through the hands of the practitioner.

The receiver does not need to have any “problem” to benefit from a Reiki session, is deeply relaxing and enhancing to one’s general well-being.  Just as a person does not need to have a physical problem to seek out and enjoy a massage, a Reiki session likewise benefits the receiver, and on all levels.

Reiki is not intended as a substitute for appropriate medical care, but can be a powerful enhancement to such care.

WHD  Is there anything else that you would like to share with us?

SG  Thank you for the opportunity for me to share this information with you.
Menopause does not have to be scary if you read and know what to expect.  The healthier you are when the time comes, the easier it will be.   Everybody’s body is different.
One last thing, your Doctor may have the best of intentions, (most do) but educate yourself so you can ask the right questions.  They don’t always have answers.

Thank you Sheri for taking the time to chat to us, the information you have provided is very comprehensive.  Her web site, The Menopause Coach has even more information and you should explore it especially if you are looking for help with menopause.
